Efficiency as a Service (EaaS)
Evinox uses in-house Minibems technology to provide a complete Efficiency as a Service offering, taking the pain and worry out of delivering efficiency for your customers.
If you are operating an inefficient heat network then you are not alone – Evinox conducted a survey of 7,750 properties on heat networks, across 18 sites, and found them to be 31% efficient on average. The best efficiency of any heat network found was 42%.
It is a daily challenge to maintain heat network efficiency – a single valve open and bypassing will pass as much flow as a whole block of flats requires, destroying efficiency. Even when everything is set-up correctly, from BMS boiler plant control through to all HIUs commissioned correctly, you still have the problem that real heat demand is low for most of the year, but the network continues to operate according to coldest day conditions. This means a gross over-delivery of heat through primary pipework, risers and laterals, resulting in poor efficiency and over-heated corridors.
Minibems flow control & efficiency management
Our Minibems technology has been developed to do two things:
Optimise temperatures and flow rates at the HIU (or CIU) to real-time demand scenarios. Because most of the year is low load, flow rates and operating temperatures are significantly reduced, whilst still achieving property comfort requirements. This means lower flow rates and return temperatures back to the boiler plant, increasing efficiency.
Provide remote management tools so that any problem areas are automatically notified immediately, and operators can go on optimising through a series of benchmarking and KPIs allowing them to adjust configurations to improve performance.
Guaranteed efficiency & savings
In the UK, planning requirements and the need for decarbonisation continue to favour the installation of heat networks, meaning we have a diverse range of heat network operators, many of which may not identify as heat network operators. Managing heat network efficiency is a specialist skill, and unless you are actively managing it then chances are your heat network efficiency is approximately 30%, meaning 70% of your fuel is not converted into sold heat.

We work with a specialist energy efficiency insurance provider to underwrite our efficiency guarantee, meaning your savings are underwritten.

Retrofit
If you have an existing heat network and want to improve the efficiency, our retrofit service upgrades your heat network with the correct controls and hardware, both in the heat consumer properties and energy centres or boiler rooms, to deliver Efficiency as a Service.
